Focus and Scope
Indonesian Journal of Ethnomathematics (IJE) provides a forum for publishing the original research articles, review articles from invited experts, and the novel technology news related to the Ethnomathematics and Value in Mathematics Education study. This journal is designed and devoted not only to Indonesian Mathematics Educators Society (I-MES) members but also to lecturers, researchers, mathematics school teachers, teacher educators, university students (Master and Doctoral) who want to publish their research reports or their literature review articles, and short communication about Ethnomathematics and its instructional. Besides regular writers, for each volume, the contents will be contributed by invited contributors who experts in Ethnomathematics and Value in Mathematics Education either from Indonesia or abroad. The Journal invites original research articles and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference. The whole spectrum of research in Ethnomathematics, value, and valuing in mathematics education is welcome.
Ethnomathematics is the study of the relationship between mathematics and culture. In a deeper understanding, ethnomathematics refers to mathematics which is practiced by members of a cultural group who share similar experiences and practices with the mathematics that can be in a unique form. Culture gives diverse and interesting contexts in mathematics learning to be discussed. Therefore, the scope of ethnomathematics is an important part of the focus and scope of the journal. The ideas of this research on related topics can be traced to the works of Marcia Ascher, Ubiratan d'Ambrosio, Robert Ascher, Marcelo C. Borba, and published books in Springer, Taylor & Francis, or other publishers.
Values and valuing, particularly in the context of doing, teaching, and learning school mathematics, is a confusing, complex, and contested terrain where colleagues have struggled to even find common definitions of values and valuing, although many have nuanced each other’s ideas. This has led to an area of research that many shy away from since it seems that no one really knows what is of worth in the discussion. And yet clearly the notions of values and valuing have been at the heart of education ever since it was, and hence must have a role in researching, teaching, and learning mathematics. So, even though there is ferment in this discussion, over the years the debate regarding values and valuing and mathematics education has provided fertile intellectual opportunities for some scholars to tweak, critique, alter, expand, deconstruct, or devise their own particular standpoints. One way to explore this crucial area of scholarship is to note the contributions from various colleagues who have influenced our thinking. The ideas of this research on related topics can be traced to the works of Philip Clarkson, Wee Tiong Seah, Jeong Suk Pang, and published books in Springer or other publishers.

Peer Review Process
Indonesian Journal of Ethnomathematics is a scientific, peer-reviewed, and open-access journal which has been established for the dissemination of state-of-the-art knowledge in the field of Ethnomathematics, published by the Indonesian Mathematics Educators Society (I-MES). The manuscript will be sent to at least two anonymous referees for contribution, originality, relevance, and presentation (double-blind review). Reviewers' comments are then sent to the corresponding author for necessary actions and responses. The Editor shall inform you of the results of the review as soon as possible, hopefully in 30 to 60 days. The submitted manuscript is first reviewed by an editor. It will be evaluated in the office, whether it is suitable for the Indonesian Journal of Ethnomathematics focus and scope or has a major methodological flaw and similarity score.
The editor will run a plagiarism check using ithenticate.com (Web Checker) for the submitted articles before sending it to the reviewers. We do not process any plagiarised content. If an article has over 20% of plagiarism based on the result of the check, we will send back the article to the author to be revised for the plagiarised contents. The journal is carried out by using Mendeley as a Tool Reference Manager. The language used in this journal is English.
The accepted research articles will be available online (free download) following the journal peer-reviewing process. The final decision of article acceptance will be made by Editors according to Reviewers' comments. The articles sent back to the authors for revision should be returned to the editor without delay. The revised article returned later than 20 days will be considered as new submissions. The revised article can be sent to the editorial through the Online Submission Interface.
All articles published in Open Access will be immediately and permanently free for everyone to read and download. We are continuously working with our author communities to select the best choice of license options, currently being defined for this journal as Creative Commons Attribution.
Publication Frequency
The Indonesian Journal of Ethnomathematics is published two times a year in April and October.
Open Access Policy
This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
Archiving
